That? Is not the only thing those queer or trans children need to hear. They need to have the hetereosexism and cissexism of the world combated constantly anvd the other bigotries refuted, time and time again. They need safety tips, they need safe spaces, they need to know they won’t be kicked out. They need their parents to support them, and they need all this before they EVER have to come out.

And, the surgeries I want are fucking expensive and my parents have a lot more money than I do. I don’t want them to tell me they love me (considering the gender coercion I got from them, I’d doubt their sincerity if that’s all they did), I want support in getting transition treatments.

I agree with the commentary above to a large extent. Beyond that, you cannot. CANNOT wait till your kids come out to you.

Doing so means that you are condeming them to fight through years of doubt, shame, and self-hate alone. You need to tell them that proactively, and more importantly, you need to demonstrate it every day by not engaging in cissexist and homophobic actions.

The quote’s originator may be doing this. If so, good for them. But the sentiment is not enough… it takes action.
